Senior Annual
Published by the Graduating Class of 1934
Hope Farm High School, Verbank, N.Y.

Foreword

The purpose of this annual is: to form and leave behind us a solid link in a chain of pleasant memories; to profitably preserve forever the happiness of our life spent at Hope Farm High School.

From cover to cover, we can look, and so refresh those memories of school life which are so dear to us, that link so firmly our memories of the before and after.

       May the chain never rust.

Class Will

We, the class of 1934 of the Hope Farm High School, located at Verbank in the state of New York, being of sound mind and memory (?), do hereby make our last will and testament:

To the school we give and bequeath our memory; in the hope that it may never grow dim; our loyal cooperation and excellent behavior to be set as an example for the ambitious students that are to come.

We give and bequeath to our dearly beloved faculty, the copyright of all the surprising and amazing information that has appeared on our various examination papers, and sincere and grateful appreciation for their patience in helping us through these long and laborious years.

We give and bequeath to our principals, Miss Thomas and Mr. Fink our most heart-felt sympathy, which we know they will need in dealing with next year's students, in the absence of our leadership.

To the Junior Class we give and bequeath our responsibilities, (which are few) and our priveleges, (which are fewer); and inasmuch as we know how impossible it will be for them to fill our places, we recom-mend for their guidance, Plutarch's "Lives of Great Men."

We do hereby name and appoint as the executor of this, our last will and testament, the future senior president. In witness whereof, we, the Class of 1934, the testator, have set our hand and seal on this 23rd day of June, 1934.

A Prophecy

July 10, 1946
Dear Bob:

Congratulations! Just read in the morning paper of your promotion to general manager of American Construction Company. You thoroughly deserve it, old boy. Keep it up!

I myself have just landed a piece of luck. As you know, I'm working for the government as a Civil Engineer. Well, I'm leaving for Nicaragua next month to help build that ditch across the isthmus.

Heard from Mary the other day. She's teaching French at our dear old Alma Mater, Hope Farm High School, and she tells me Blenda is abroad, as a buyer for Macy's; Blenda, of all people! Remember how she used to "slam" such an idea in our beloved business class! And Mary! how we used to kid her along about her French lessons!

Ran into Eppie and Oakley the other day, Eppie at the Medical Center and Oakley at the Grand Central Station waiting for his train to Verbank; for he was on his way to Hope Farm as a C.P.A. to check the Farm's books. Boy! wait until he tackles the Community Work Slips. The poor fellow can't even do his own income taxes right, but who can? Eppie? Oh, she blushingly told me about her weakness, of frequent fainting spells that seem to recur when a certain pathologist on the staff is present. Without doubt she's living up to our class motto, "A thing that is worth doing is worth doing well."

So long, and good luck to you, from one of your old classmates,
Spain
P.S. Are you planning to celebrate Hope Farm's 40th anniversary with the rest of us next week?

Class Poem

We, the graduating class

Of nineteen thirty-four,

Want to express our greatest love

And thanks to Hope Farm for

A thorough education,

A better chance to win,

And everlasting friendships,

Our friends through thick and thin.

We hope to find as good a place,

A place where love abides,

A place as good as Hope Farm,

Our guardian and our guide.

Too soon we must be leaving,

And far away may be,

But, no matter where we go,

Hope Farm -- we honor thee.

-- 12th Grade
